Tolujin This climax of Jucifer's remarkable and probably unique progress from indie rockers to sludge metal deities should be in the collections of everyone with an interest in the doom/sludge/stoner/drone metal spectrum. Brutal, intelligent and moving and featuring the versatile Valentine's best vocal work yet, from sweet keening melodies to the most blood-curdling crow-croaks this side of Burning Witch. A landmark release. Favorite track: Queen of Antlers.

Adam This is a hard album for me to listen to. Not because it's bad, quite the opposite. It's an emotionally taxing album, though. Especially after reading through the liner notes from the vinyl. It really gives you a look into an incredibly harrowing time in Russian history. I highly recommend setting some time aside to really listen to this, and read the liner notes that go along with it. Favorite track: Ni Shagu Nazad.

Matthias E V I L - I cannot imagine, what you have to be through, to change from Alternative Rock to this Monster. Nevermind - I like it! Favorite track: Song of the Walking City.

about

This album was recorded in four cities and three countries. We thank our friends / engineers / gracious hosts to nomads: Joe Byrne owner at The Farm studio (Essex, Ontario Canada), Jason Tedford owner at Wolfman Studios (Little Rock, Arkansas USA), Mike Radka owner and Frank Phobia partner at Akdar Studios (Bernville, Pennsylvania USA) and Олег Котрунов a.k.a. Oleg Kotrunov (Volgograd, Volgograd Oblast Russia).

For the first time in Jucifer history, we included guests on our recording. We thank Лариса Медведева, Владимир Котрунов, and Мария Котрунова (Larisa Medvedeva, Vladimir Kotrunov and Maria Kotrunova) for their wonderful job voicing 'The Land' and 'Child' narrations and Maria's beautiful a capella singing of the patriotic song. Without these friends' native speech, commitment to acting their parts, and Larisa's amazing adaptation of our written story from English to Russian which transferred its rhythm and feel impeccably, the album would not have been complete to us. In addition we thank the Kotrunov / Medvedeva family for giving us such an in-depth tour of their city and welcoming us in their home.

We would like to thank author Robert K. Massie for his excellent books about the Romanovs, which helped maintain and expand our lifelong interest in Russian history.

We would also like to thank Максим Иванов for finding our contact and bringing us to tour in Russia for the first time in 2011, a dream come true, and paving the way for our return last year and again this summer. We thank Max for his work and hospitality, as well as all the other friends we've been grateful to find there who've helped by promoting shows, attending shows, hosting us, feeding us, singing along to our songs, helping us haul gear, chaperoning us to airports and train stations, teaching us necessary Russian swears, and surprising us with cold beer or hot coffee when it's most needed... not to mention taking us to historical sites and museums they already had to visit too many times on school field trips.

Special thanks to Татьяна for giving us her Russian / English dictionary, so invaluable on the trains, and to Алекс / Саша / Винс for pointing us to a better online translator. If there are flaws in our use of Russian on this record, it won't be their fault!

Special thanks to the booking agents, promoters, publicists, press, venue staff and support bands everywhere who help make our endless tour possible.

Extra special thanks to artist Jim Altieri for his indispensable work creating layouts and special fonts for this album and for Throned In Blood and the Nadir reissue, as well as awesome tour posters; and for his incredibly thoughtful gifts of food, beer and coconut water to help keep us going in the studio. He is a true friend and a crucial member of the Nomadic Fortress Army.

Extra special thanks to David Hall and Christopher "C.T." Terry at Mutants of the Monster for helping us release this beast, and again to David for his work creating past and forthcoming music videos for Jucifer. It means the world to have support from such talented and all-around-good dudes.

Extra special thanks to our families, our friends, and our fans. You keep us here.

Finally, it is with the greatest respect and gratitude that we dedicate this album to all who defended Stalingrad. In a 2011 report it was estimated that about 1,500 survivors of that battle remain living in the city and region. To them, and to the descendants of those hundreds of thousands defenders already passed on, we hope our work conveys our deep reverence for their love and courage, which inspired it.

за волгой для нас земли нет was recorded and mixed in several short sessions during 2011, 2012 and 2013. All songs written by Jucifer. Produced by Jucifer. Performed by Jucifer (except for narration and a capella song as noted above). Narration parts are a collaborative creation of Edgar Livengood and Gazelle Amber Valentine, with facts compiled and lines written by both. Valentine assembled the final edit, and Larisa Medvedeva translated to Russian.
